Castle Coelan to Langourla

Hello,
Today I'll tell you about a relatively unknown castle (or at least it was for me until a few days ago): The Castle Coelan to Langourla in Côtes d'Armor Britain to enter the plan click here This castle, built on a promontory at the edge of the forest Bosquen, was built by the family of Quemper Lanascol, Champagny. He goes to the family of La Guibourgère Camus at the end of the nineteenth century. Faithful to the noble aspirations of the time, he was inspired by the style of Louis XIII and the Renaissance, with the use of limestone. The park was designed by landscape Bülher, creator of Parc du Mont-Thabor in Rennes.

The park is home to a farm Coelan some architectural elements from a castle or a chapel. This circular pediment with the arms pounded the center, topped by three characters is difficult to identify. The building is occupied originally by gentlemen glassmakers. Their presence is attested by broken glass and several wineries, which is extracted the necessary material.

dependencies located around the Castle marking private space. It does not penetrate without authorization. This building, erected at the intersection of two alleys leading to the castle, reflects the aesthetic interests of the family of La Guibourgère. Aqueduct Buc

Yesterday I went next to a historic aqueduct not very far from home and yet I did not know then I started returning to sail on the net in search info on this huge building that seemed to be full of history and experience and that's what I found:

The Buc aqueduct is built on the orders of Louis XIV to fuel tanks brand new Palace of Versailles. It measures 580 meters in length to 21 meters high and has 19 arches. To overcome this lack of water, the king ordered that initially develop a "machine" such as that of Marly, which would pump the Bievre. But the experiment has failed, he decided to build a large bridge over the river to get water to the ponds and Saclay Hole Salt (to Toussos-le-Noble). The construction lasted two years, the foundations of over 20 feet deep are provided to support the arches, which are extended on both sides by an underground aqueduct.

Castle Taurus

Today I focused closer to a castle very much its original location (built on an island) and by its history (it must be said that by his name, too). It is the Chateau
Taurus :

This castle-shaped stone vessel is a jewel of Heritage Finistère and Brittany, it is located on the Bay of Morlaix

Born a collective will to protect themselves from the English threat, the castle was built in 1542 on the rocky island of Taurus, on the initiative of residents and shopkeepers in the town of Morlaix. In the eighteenth century, Louis XIV has transformed by Vauban. The building was greatly extended to house now housing the soldiers and officers, two dungeons, a canteen, a kitchen, a chapel and 11 bunkers.

In 1721, the castle was diverted from its mission of defense to assume the duties of prison.

Laid up in 1890, the castle Taurus turns into a summer residence before being invested by the DCA during the German War World.
In 1960, the fort found civilian use until 1980 and hosts a sailing school. Abandoned, the monument is deteriorating rapidly. By 1989, public opinion and mobilize local communities, a new project for the building is running well. In 1996, the state allocates 17 million francs to begin its restoration. A cultural and tourism for the public opening is then developed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morlaix and its partners. 2006 will mark the completion and the start of a renaissance for this strong historical witness of the Bay of Morlaix.

Altarpiece of Saint-Nicolas-sur-àTessancourt Aubette

This Morning (even it is a bit late to say morning) I'll tell you about the Altarpiece of the Church of St. Nicolas to Tessancourt sur Aubette , a village of 928 inhabitants (yes I went to look far this one):

This altarpiece, which dates from the eighteenth century and a historical monument since 1930, in Baroque style adorns the chapel of the noble family of Vion, with abundant scenery and rich contrast with the sobriety of rest of the church . On the one hand and the altarpiece, representations of saints Peter and Nicolas are carved in wood size brushed white and gold and come certainly an altar they originally framed, St. Nicolas is identifiable with the award, one of his usual attributes that recalls the episode said the charity of St. Nicolas, during which he would have saved three young girls forced into prostitution by poverty, by building three purses full of gold in their home. For this reason and because it is celebrated in December that St. Nicolas is, since the Middle Ages, the saint distributor gifts. The altar table is the Good Shepherd.
